YouTube Comes to the Classroom

After reading this article, I realized that youtube is not just for entertaining. Teachers can build background knowledge using some of the various videos that are on the website. The author also gave tips about how to convert youtube videos into another format for use if it is banned in your school district. I shared this idea with several teachers and they were in awe. They did not know that you could convert the videos for classroom use. Since students enjoy looking at youtube on a daily basis, maybe teachers can assign videos for them to watch and discuss when the class meets again. Youtube is not going away so we might as use it for our benefits in the classroom.
